Class A Surfacing is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to support our clients in the aerospace, defense, and mobility industries. Our team specializes in advanced engineering solutions, delivering high-performance, lightweight structures that meet the demanding requirements of modern aerospace and mobility systems.
This role involves developing structural components that balance performance, weight, and manufacturability. The engineer will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure designs meet technical, regulatory, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize structural designs for aerospace, defense, and mobility applications using composite and metallic materials.
- Perform structural analysis, including finite element modeling and stress analysis, to ensure durability and performance.
- Support manufacturing teams by providing design guidance for cost-effective and scalable production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including aerodynamics, systems engineering, and manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and certification requirements (FAR, MIL-STD, ASME).
- Lead design reviews and provide technical oversight for structural development projects.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
- Five or more years of experience in structural design, preferably in aerospace or related industries.
- Proficiency in CAD (CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks) and structural analysis tools (ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Strong understanding of composite and metallic structures, including their manufacturing processes.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Must be a U.S. Person (Citizen or Green Card holder) due to export control regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with structural certification processes for aerospace applications.
- Knowledge of additive manufacturing and emerging lightweight materials.
- Familiarity with automation and digital manufacturing techniques.
Rates $60-$110 per hour, depending on location and work experience.
